[Shaw blows out a sharp breath, leaning forward and pinching the bridge of her nose.]

You're right, I shouldn't've lost my temper.

It's really easy for me to disengage with social things, Graham. You said a couple months ago that you were surprised I was still putting up with him - it wasn't because I was taking the easy road.

[She sighs too, breaking eye contact again to focus on Bear as he finally comes padding over to them, sniffing Shaw before moving over to Will and the other dogs.]

But like I said, I'm done, unless he decides he's going to make a change in how he talks to me. And he's made it pretty clear that that's not gonna happen.

Graham-- I don't get what's going on here; isn't this what you just said you thought was a good idea?

How could you have helped, if the problem isn't communication and understanding?
cactusy: (because he was stupid and I hated him)

[personal profile] cactusy 2023-09-14 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay.

[Shaw rubs at her temples with both thumbs, closing her eyes.]

We could. Try again. But, Will, if the end result of all this is you thinking that Bright shouldn't have to make any adjustments in how he acts because masking sucks or whatever--
cactusy: (I don't care if it keeps me alive)

[personal profile] cactusy 2023-09-14 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if it did.

[She says, lifting her head again to look at Will.]

But-- yeah. Okay. We can try again.

Shouldn't we arrange something instead? I was planning to just not engage him socially, so nothing was really going to "come up".

Just seems like waiting to stumble into something again is the worse idea, but--

[She shrugs, and repeats:]

Okay.

Please.

[Shaw says gratefully - and with that, she's just going to flop onto the couch and close her eyes.]
cactusy: ("I'm not bitter‚" I say bitterly)

[personal profile] cactusy 2023-09-15 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah?

[She hadn't known. But--]

I guess that doesn't surprise me. Does she do it with her weird touch thing? Maybe she'll be able to tell me if Bear's okay.

[Shaw is quiet for a moment, processing this new bit of information. As adaptable as she is as a general rule, she often struggles with having things sprung on her that can stick in her unreality craw: and not only are those things plentiful on the Barge, but people also tend to talk about them like they're nothing, either because they've been onboard for so long that they're used to them or because they come from worlds where they truly are nothing. But Will's way of speaking helps: the slower lead-up, the introductory Did you know.

She is, she decides, fine.]

... What did they tell her? In general, not just about the werewolf thing.
