"My..." He heaves a breath, in and out. Because he does, he just has to reach for it. "Blood...and breath..." His voice is shaking. He clears his throat. "They are elements to fuel my radiance."
His shaking slows and he looks up, looks Malcolm in the eyes. "Just as the source of a fire is burning. He...said that to me. And I said it to Francis to entice him. We baited the hook."
Re: Right after Jedao reports Justine's Amnesia Attack on Will
“And then killed him,” Malcolm fills in, because he knows this story. “But that stuff… it’s not what makes you radiant.” He takes Will’s hand and lifts it so Will can see the ring on his own finger. “The radiance comes from inside you. Like me. You can tell because it shines through the cracks.” He pauses, holding Will’s gaze for a moment. “We’re the same,” he says soberly.
Re: Right after Jedao reports Justine's Amnesia Attack on Will
Looking at Malcolm, the weight seems to be back in Will's eyes, the tiredness- but also that little bit of delight that almost always accompanies talking with Malcolm.
"We are," he says quietly. He raises his other hand and captures Malcolm's between his own. He squeezes it. "But you shine so brilliantly."
He still has tears in his eyes as he leans over to kiss Malcolm, gently. "Sorry I worried you. I've got the most important parts back."
Re: Right after Jedao reports Justine's Amnesia Attack on Will
“You didn’t do anything except make me happier than I even thought I could be,” Malcolm tells him. “But I’m… I don’t know if I can… “ He closes his eyes for a second, takes a breath. “She almost took you away from me. Just. Out of pure carelessness and a lack of regard for anyone else’s existence. And she’s an inmate so we’re supposed to just let that stuff go and I don’t know if I can.”
Re: Right after Jedao reports Justine's Amnesia Attack on Will
Will's still a little disoriented- that was a lot of emotional scarring to place so nearly back onto him. He feels exhausted, but he can bet Malcolm's feeling that way, too. The possible loss was so, so much.
"You don't have to. You're not her warden. If she'd done this to you-" With Malcolm's memory issues? Will's eyes darken. "-I would've already demoted myself. But it was me. And I'm here, and I'm all right. It's safe- and justified- to let yourself feel anything you need to.
Re: Right after Jedao reports Justine's Amnesia Attack on Will
Malcolm presses his lips together for a moment, studying Will’s face again, every angle, every line, every scar.
“We’re supposed to get married soon,” he says softly. He shifts around so he can slide both arms around Will’s neck and press their foreheads together. He breathes his scent deeply for a moment. “Is it stupid after all that that I’d feel better if we picked a date?”
