Well. At least they agreed on that. Reid talked to me privately earlier, by the way- I explained why I was so bothered by the issue. I mentioned how I spent a lot of my time back home watching people get hurt, and it's terrible for me. He seemed to understand and offered to let me talk to Lestat- supervised, of course. If you're okay with it.

Sounds like that's the general consensus for the direct victims, too. Any talk about prevention, before he starts- hopefully- regaining a sense of basic decency?

[She makes a small, disgruntled noise in the back of his throat.]

Reid was very insistent that any kind of oversight just "makes him worse".

[ Will groans, sounding annoyed- but probably not for the same reasons as Shaw. ]

Damn it. I'd have to know more, but...Reid might be right about that. Some personality disorders respond very poorly to being 'managed,' controlled, or watched. Him being a vampire just means that there's hundreds of years of that to undo rather than just a couple of decades.

Was there any talk about what to do if floods mess him up again? He's only gotten violent during those, hasn't he? Although that first one wasn't a mind-affecting flood.

Bright brought it up. It immediately turned into a big argument about how much he should be blamed versus how much the flood should be blamed.

[This is punctuated with a heavy roll of her eyes.]

So basically, no, not really.

[ Deep, annoyed sigh. ]

Listen- I'll tell you now. If there's ever a flood where I have advantage over Lestat, I'll probably hurt him. Might be the flood affecting me, might just be that I'm frustrated. And then we can see how much people's minds change about what should be done.

Mm, depends on with who, probably. I don't think you'd get the majority of the Barge clamoring for anything any more than de Lioncourt or Avalon or Creel did.

Eh, maybe not.

[ More sighing. That's not really the response he'd want- not that he might care in the event of a flood, anyway. ]

Well, that's partially why I took that offer from Gaius, anyway. If other people aren't going to try and stop these things, I might as well try for protection. Thanks for pointing me that way.
